This audio book annoyed me immensely, and I think it justnie have started with the narrator Cassandra Harwoodwhose voice droned through each sentence making it hard to concentrate on the information being presented. There is little simple about Coco Chanel.

To put one tag on Chanel’s life is near impossible, and that is exactly the word I would use for it. At the age of 12, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, now known as Coco Chanel, was shipped off to an orphanage with her older sister Julie. I would probably have been better off with a book on the House of Chanel rather than Coco Chanel because fashion is where my interests lie and Chanel’s contribution to fashion doesn’t play a major role in this book.
If you were to write a biography of someone like Chanel, at least dig up some truth. I think that was the focus of my dislike of the book: I felt the book really could have been considerably shorter, with the cutting of extraneous information. Clothes, for Coco Channel, were for freedom and forgetting.
